It is a bittersweet New York City ending to yet another iconic cultural institution as The Patricia Field Boutique closes its doors on Bowery. Patricia Field has an extensive and certainly eccentric history of connecting all walks of life together in her store from fashion designers and celebrities to artists and drag queens.

Patricia was instrumental in changing the way women dress through HBO’s wildly popular television series “Sex and the City.” Patricia was nominated for an Academy Award for The Devil Wears Prada but won multiple Emmy Awards for Sex and the City, Ugly Betty and Mother Goose Rock ‘N’ Rhyme.

Patricia is cool as a cucumber about the end of an era stating, “I felt that now was the right time,” she continued to the New York Daily News. “I feel extremely proud of what I have been able to accomplish in these 50 years and am excited and inspired by what’s to come.”

She currently has many other projects in the works involving her love of art, film, television and philanthropy. However, some of us can not help feeling a small sense of panic when needing a new wig or  “Sex and the City”-inspired Carrie Bradshaw tutu.

Patricia Field is currently still selling much of her store and memorabilia on her online boutique:
